EXHIBITIONS 2025

Two exhibitions were organised as part of my Lough Gara project. The first took place as part of Boyle Arts Festival, and ran from 17th-26th July on Main Street, Boyle. This exhibition displayed some of my own work associated with Lough Gara, as well as a selection of artefacts from my own collection and some kindly on loan from locals.
The second iteration of the Lough Gara: Past & Present exhibition took place in Ballaghaderreen, as part of Ballaghaderreen Arts Festival, and ran from August 2nd-10th, in the newly re-opened library building, the fabulous Georgian 'Dillon House'. This was a slighlty expanded version of the Boyle exhibition- with the large crannog model as its centrepiece- and ran in tandem with the Ballaghaderreen Main Art Exhibition.
I was very pleasantly surprised at the sheer turnout and level of interest in both of these exhibitions. I was exhausted from chatting to people about Lough Gara by the end of the two weeks! Many expressed their desire for more similar art and heritage events, especially concerning areas like Lough Gara that are all too often overlooked, being right on our doorstep.
Hopefully these exhibitions have re-ignited a passion for the lake in locals and visitors alike, and with a bit of luck will lend momentum to future projects and events.
